20260531. I walked from Lok Sin Tong to the entrance of the Chating Ancient Trail. There's a tea pavilion and a Bo Gong Temple there, and a stone tablet for the Chating Ancient Trail in front of it. The entire ancient trail is almost entirely made up of steps, about 1000 meters long. There's a glutinous rice bridge there; it's very simple and easy to walk on.

The walk from the north entrance to the south entrance normally takes about 20 minutes. The south entrance is at a higher altitude and has a local temple. 2026/04/27 The trail doesn't seem to be used much and is poorly maintained. There are some broken branches stuck in the small boardwalk. There's also a lot of moss on the path. But the trail is short and quite easy to walk. Be careful of bees and other insects. It's not difficult to walk.

The trail isn't too long; there are open spaces or roadside parking options near the starting point of Hengshan Street Section 2. After reaching the top, continue walking upwards, passing Lok Sin Tong for stunning mountain views. The Da Shan Bei Farmers' Market is nearby, and there are also parking areas nearby. Note the Stone Arch Nuomi Bridge and Xiao Cukeng Bridge if you visit.

This place is labeled "Hiking Area" but it's rather disappointing. At that spot, there is indeed a trail, but it goes down. That down trail is actually nice, all paved with narrow slabs of stones but it's very short. After 500 m, you find yourself on a road, which has no specific interest (GPS coordinates are 24.708773, 121.132216). So, you just have to go back. Back at the start, it's possible to go to LeShanTang, but it's just a plain walk on the road. Therefore, that place is much more a landmark for cyclists than an interesting trail for hikers.
