🌿 Memories of an Ancient Trail Continue Around the Corner I returned to this long-lost tung blossom paradise, filled with anticipation of reuniting with old friends. Unexpectedly, the familiar path was swallowed by overgrown weeds. Looking beyond the dense greenery, I discovered that the hillside above had been cleared by farmhouses. The route I remembered had now been privately marked out, an insurmountable dead end. However, the mountains never truly impede the traveler's steps. As the saying goes, "a path is made by walking," and in the process of searching and turning, pushing aside the obstructing branches, I unexpectedly reconnected with the centuries-old charcoal-carrying path. Following the historical footprints of those who transported charcoal, I ascended the mottled cobblestone steps, successfully reaching the summit of Santong Ridge. On the descent, I chose to slowly descend along the tung blossom trail. At this time, a thorough rain of early summer had just subsided. The paulownia blossoms on the branches, unable to withstand the pampering of the rain, had long since turned into fallen petals, never to be seen in a path carpeted with white snow. Just as I was lamenting this, I looked up and saw the acacia blossoms quietly taking over across the mountains. Those tiny, golden fluff balls appeared even more radiant after the rain; a gentle breeze stirred, scattering petals in a soft, golden hue. Even more reassuring was that, in the process of clearing the land, a path connecting Santongling and the Paulownia Trail had been thoughtfully preserved for hikers. This path, winding through houses and greenery, seemed like a silent understanding between civilization and nature, transforming the regret of taking the wrong path into a beautiful surprise of encountering a golden acacia rain.

Santongling Ancient Trail is a very comfortable and easy hiking trail. It's shaded by trees, tranquil in the environment, and offers a good workout without being too tiring. The natural forests along the way have excellent air quality, making it perfect for relaxing and enjoyable hiking. The overall difficulty is low, and the route is well-defined, making it ideal for families or half-day weekend getaways.
