Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area is one of those rare places that feels untouched, almost like you’ve stepped into another world. The moment you arrive, the air changes — cool, crisp, and filled with the scent of ancient cypress trees. The mist rolling through the forest creates a surreal atmosphere that’s hard to describe unless you experience it yourself. It’s quiet in a way that feels intentional, not empty — the kind of silence that resets your mind. The walking trails are well-maintained yet still feel wild, and the famous Bong Bong train adds a unique charm to the experience. Every corner looks like a scene from a movie, especially early in the morning when the fog settles between the trees. What I appreciated most is that it’s not overly commercialized. You can truly disconnect here, take your time, and just exist with nature. If you’re looking for peace, solitude, and something genuinely different from typical tourist spots — this place delivers perfectly. Highly recommended.

Very nice scenery! Great experience. We were lucky to see beautiful clouds and with great weather! There is quite a bit of stairs climb but really can spend some time there to relax and enjoy the environment. Will I go again? Yes!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. “Cloud waves” is out of this world. I’d return but in warmer times. We visited in early Jan and it was 0 degree or lower. And it was just freezing cold. Make sure you’ve waterproof super warm wear, hat, face cover, gloves, whole winter gear set!!!

Jianqing Historic Trail I was incredibly lucky today—the trail showed its most magical side. I started the hike in thick mist, barely seeing anything, and then suddenly the clouds opened up. Blue sky and mountain ridges appeared all at once, and it felt truly breathtaking. Just a moment later, everything shifted again and I was surrounded by drifting fog like walking into a fairytale. The trail is short, but the changing clouds, the quiet cypress forest, and the remains of the old logging railway make it full of character. Experiencing such real, rare beauty here made the visit absolutely worth it.

First time visiting 太平山 in Taiwan in the chilled weather of January. It has an amazing scenery especially during sunset ~ it seemed the clouds were just within reach ☺️ Mountainous place so must wear the right shoes as the floors/grounds were wet from the dew on the highland. Most monuments were already old and worn out without proper maintenance. May visit again but not during summer 😅
